Earth Dragon Clan born archaeologist Grey Fields leads an expedition into the wilds of Katz Island on her home planet of Dharaven. She’s looking for a human underground settlement that she’s only seen on an ancient map found in an antiquarian store. Troubles begin before they are even on the island when threats are made against the expedition and the university. Government officials cut down her team, leaving a few to begin the archaeology work in a large area that must be ground searched. On the island the only things found in the first valley are identical rocks that appear to go in a line across the valley plus several mixed up rock cairns. These finds lead the team into a second valley where there are definite signs of early Dharaven humans having lived in the area. Grey manages to solve one problem after another as they crop up in the expedition. Grey Dawn’s one burning quest throughout her adventures is to find the human underground settlement her ancient map shows is there.
